A quasi-formal discussion with food and wine
SPRU and CENTRIM follow a long tradition of constructive engagement with decision-makers in the policy-making and business arenas. Our research contributes to academic debates, but also informs 'real- world' action. This requires the design of techniques and fora for data gathering, analysis and interaction with stakeholders and an understanding of issues such as policy implementation, organisational change and 'intervention'.
In this kick-off session of the joint SPRU/CENTRIM 'Show and Tell' events we aim to explore the inter-linkages between the 'influence areas' and research topics of SPRU and CENTRIM, as well as the extent to which the tools and techniques we specialise on can be fruitfully applied in other contexts.
Some possible issues for discussion:
- Fitting methodologies to contexts
- Fitting communication strategies to audiences
- Access to stakeholders
- Connection between macro-level policies and the micro realities of individual actors
- Linkages between policy implementation and organisational change
- Social enterprises in the intersection between the public and the business
- Research user-centric innovation?
